Welcome Aboard, Chris Butler!

by Anne

I hate my Sabres Insider text messages sometimes. I got one tonight at like 6:30 and only read words about a contract and got really excited, until I realized it was for a 2005 draft pick defenseman who just finished his career at the University of Denver. Um, ok, that's cool I guess. WHERE'S MY UPDATE ABOUT BIG BEAR AND PIE-YAY?

Anyway, as per usual, here's everything I can find about Chris Butler. With a shockingly common name, some of these facts may or may not be about different Chris Butlers.

  • He was drafted 96th overall in the 4th round 2005 by us

  • He was born October 27, 1986

  • He was born in St. Louis

  • He is 6'1", 195lbs

  • He is a business major at the University of Denver

  • At rookie camp, he didn't have any wings. Apparently the rumor going around is that chicken wings are not good for you. This is a crazy rumor also perpetuated by Big Bear. What is this foolishness? Chicken is frequently on lists of healthy foods.

  • In September, he burned 80% of his hand in his own kichen with cooking oil, but it's all better now

  • He's leaving college early to play for the Sabres. Wouldn't you?

  • He had 17 points this season including 3 goals

  • This season he had 110 blocked shots and a +10 rating

  • He was the QB on their powerplay. Our current QB likes to succumb to hysterical collapses every few weeks, hence the reason our PP isn't so good.

  • He was named 2nd team All-American this season

  • He's an offensive defenseman ....That has become my least favorite phrase this season

  • Wow, this kid is hard to find information about

I quit, I've been doing this for a half hour and can find nothing other than things like: "In the November 10, 2007 game against Notre Dame he had a 2 minute penalty for interference."

Here's a picture:

Welcome to the Sabres, Chris! You need a nickname "Buts" just seems wrong...I'll work on it!

I hope you and Nathan and Tim Kennedy and Andrew Orpik become BFFs playing for the Who Knows Where Who Knows Whats' in the AHL in the fall!

  2. "Apparently the rumor going around is that chicken wings are not good for you. "

Boy am I glad that I didn't get that memo until after I got home from Pearl Street yesterday!

But I do remember reading that Goose likes his wings medium, so at least we know this rumor did not start with him!

  3. s.a.m. - that's why you get BBQ wings...I'm a thinker.

katie - I knew Goose wouldn't let me down with his love of chicken wings

People have been trying to tell me this myth for years and my stalwart refusal to acknowledge this as true is probably why my jeans don't fit sometimes, haha.
