Uhhhh...

by Anne

By now you've probably noticed a trend with my postings. If we win, I basically post immediately. If we lose, I put off my next post until at least the middle of the next day, sometimes later.

That game just imploded in the last few minutes and I couldn't bear to watch their second empty net goal.

On the bright side, Mike Richards got his first career five point night.

The Kings lost last night 4-2. However, they were playing the Sharks so the loss is not as hard to take.

Fortunately there was one silver lining to last night. The Canucks beat Ottawa at home, 5-2 after kicking things off with a 4-0 lead.

The Burrows and Sedin line was all over the place and came up with nine points and a combined +7. Henrik had a four point night (1+3), Daniel two (1+1) and Burr three (1+2). Bieksa and Pavol Demitra scored the other two goals.

Burr was the triplet all along?

My cousin Jimmy aka James will be at my house this weekend so I have a sneaking suspicion there may be a guest post.

If you haven't heard about the stuff going down in Montreal off the ice having to do with hookers, the mafia and alcohol, check it out here. No, its not a joke, there really is stuff going on with hookers, the mafia and alcohol involving at least three Canadiens' players. Ah, just what they needed when Kovalev is self-destructing, Carey Price is floundering through sophomore growing pains and Vinny Lecavalier trade rumors are still swirling, all during the team's centennial when they felt they were destined by the hockey gods to win their 25th Stanley Cup. I'm taking a sick amount of happiness out of watching the smug smiles being wiped off of their faces.

Finally! A Win!

by Anne

The Canucks picked a GREAT game to decide to win at home in regulation!

A seesaw of a game saw the Canucks up 2-0, then the 'Canes rally to quickly tie. Then it was 3-2 Canucks, then 3-3. Talk about hair-pulling. When Mattias Ohlund gets a penalty in the waning minutes of the game, you're sure this is a 'Canes power play goal.

Then what happens? Short handed, Kesler takes the puck in the Canucks zone and passes it to one Alexandre Burrows streaking up the middle all alone on Cam Ward and one back-hand top shelf shot later, the game is 4-3 Canucks and that's how it ends.

That was a really really exciting game, and doubly rewarding. Not only do the Canucks get two desperately needed points (at home, no less), but they also down the 'Canes in regulation, keeping them in 9th place, two points back of the Sabres. Phew.

I watched the 'Canes feed and it was really fun to listen how bummed out they were to leave those points in the Western Conference.

In the play off picture: Unfortunately the Panthers defeated Toronto tonight in OT and they're currently sitting in 8th, one point behind us. Pittsburgh lost... again.

Unrelated to anything affecting the Sabres, the Kings won tonight 1-0 over Ottawa. And we got to watch Anze Kopitar make these crepe-like pancakes. Thanks?

Tomorrow's game against Toronto is that much more important.

Wooooo Canucks!

Oh Big Bear, How These Eejits Have Made Me Neglect You

by Anne

That pack of thieves and miscreants known to some as the "Buffalo Sabres" and their suckity suck sucky style of hockey of late have distracted me from the beauty that is my Western Conference Boyfriends.

Alix had to point out to me that Big Bear scored in the game against the Wild last night because I was TOO DISTRACTED to notice myself. FIE AND SHAME UPON ME FOR THIS NEGLECT!!

Um, excuse me, Cancuks.com but WHERE IS DAY 5 OF ROAD TRIP PHOTOS? You must fill my obsessive need for hockey player pictures off the ice. Look, Vancouver, you're doing well in this "favorite Western Conference team 2008-2009" but Chicago is as well. I'm secretly rooting for you. Keep it up! You're basically only running away with this because of: 1. Big Bear 2. The freaky twins and how the play by play guy just calls them Daniel and Henrik 3. My burgeoning love for Ryan Kesler 4. Kyle Wellwoods' "I don't work" work ethic 5. Big Bear and 6. "Mason Raymond" is like the worst hockey name ever but he seems to be your own personal Dan Paille so I'm ok with it.

Alex Burrows is keeping an eye on you.
He doesn't trust you.

Ummm and if SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN VANCOUVER can get their hands on an extra Canucks calendar (provided its free)... or tells me where I can get one if I don't live in Vancouver... I'd be the happiest girl in Buffalo.

Heeeee!

I'm completely conflicted about tomorrow's game. I'm pro Pens and pro 'Nucks. I'm thinking Vancouver needs the win more and since the Pens creamated us and we beat the Canucks, I'm rooting for the Canucks. And because I don't love any individual player on the Pens as much as I love... someone on the Canucks.

ETA:

I hate them hate them hate them hate them but AAAAAHHAHAHAHA:

I could watch Pommer do that awkwardly ADORABLE shrug all day.
Temporary love for all three of them.
