Today, Darcy signed YET ANOTHER prospect. A first rounder!!! Dennis Persson, 24th pick overall in 2006.
As per usual:
- Dennis was born June 2, 1988 in Nykoping, Sweden
- Hey, his birthday was yesterday, I'd bet an NHL contract is an excellent birthday present
- He plays defense!!
- He was drafted in the first round 24th overall, but he was told he was going to be drafted late in the 2nd...not so much
- He's 6'1", 181 lbs (Thank GOD, someone over 6' tall!)
- He played 3 season in Sweden's Tier 2 League, and played last season in Sweden's Elite League, registering 10 points in 51 games
- He's an, ugh, offensive defenseman
- He has the potential to be a top-pair defenseman
- He shoots left
- As with most European prospects, its hard to find information about them in English
- He's strong on the powerplay, at controlling the play from the blueline and carrying the puck in to the zone
- Yyyyyeahhhh.... I think I added him as a facebook friend. Jhonas Enroth and I are Facebook buddies, NATHAN GERBE, yes I'm still bitter that he rejected my friend request TWICE
- He needs to work on his forward skating, but his back and side skating are strong
- He doesn't watch much NHL Hockey because the games are on in the middle of the night in Sweden
It's weird watching him put on the old black and red, because at that point I'm pretty sure the new logo had already been leaked, but obviously hadn't been made official yet
