ReplyDeleteAs for the typical hockey player answer, I'm pretty sure they cut out the part where he went on to say, "However, in October Gambler was still in the country, and now that she's all the way in Germany, there's a rather large, Gambler-shaped hole in my heart. That makes it difficult, but I'm trying to play through the pain. I want to make her proud now more than ever."

Exactly! He can't show that emotional wound to the world, his enemies would take advantage of his weakness. But we all know that you being in Germany is the REAL difference. Maybe you being in his home nation gives him strength!
